Painting allows me to tap into, release and express my emotions enabling me to understand and communicate how I feel about my observations and experiences.
This inner dialogue stimulates an ongoing interaction between my emotions and the paint, which is expressed in the work.
My inspiration is colour, the power of colour combined with gestural brushstrokes to express my emotions. The choice of colour palette is influences by my mood, with colours layering and fusing together as the work develops.
The excitement of a painting coming together keeps me engaged and eager to explore. I work mainly with oils and I love the way colours merge and surprise me. The challenge is to control the paint so that the colour and mark-making remain fresh and true.

I joined my fellow Wildwood Artists, established artist Liz Hauck, and well-known glass-maker Adam Aaronson, for their second exhibition, 'In my mind's eye …' from 4th to 12th September 2021 in the beautiful surroundings of High Clandon Estate Vineyard.
Wildwood Artists is a group of artists based in Surrey ranging from established practitioners to those seeking new directions and artistic ventures. As a collective, they hold regular workshops together to develop, encourage and inspire each other and are delighted to share this endeavour with you.
